Something that tends to occur during the winter for me, and has occurred yet again, is that the skin on the back of my hands become quite dry and cracked. This is brought on because I tend to wash my hands frequently. I do try to lotion my hands when I remember to, but it still is pretty rough.
Apparently this is probably hand dermatitis, which is interesting since I just did my project on atopic dermatitis. I found an interesting article on Harvard's website that listed some possible solutions to the issue. Some helpful ingredients in lotions after washing hands glycerin, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid, while some potential irritants include methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, cocamidopropyl betaine.
Additionally, I didn't realize that it doesn't matter too much the temperature of the water. I have always washed my hands with warm water.
